ABOUT US.
Greetings! Tena koutou! . A Baha'i is a follower of the nineteenth century Iranian Prophet and Law-Giver, Mirza Husayn-Ali Nuri known as Baha'u'llah (Glory of God). A Baha'i Community is a voluntary association of Baha'is who work, play, worship and socialise together in order to further the aims implement and spread the teachings of Baha'u'llah. Our Bahá'í community, one of over 60 in New Zealand, is small but active, and we have had our own 9-member community governing council or Local Spiritual Assembly since April 1991. There are currently 46 Local Assemblies in localities nationwide. In our local community, we have a diverse membership, drawn from New Zealand, North American and English nationalities, including individuals whose ethnicity is Maori and Chinese. Children, adolescents and youth, single persons and families all make up the close knit Kapiti Coast Baha'i Community. We are part of a worldwide community of over 5 million Bahá'ís with approximately 3000 adherents throughout New Zealand.

ABOUT OUR DISTRICT. The beautiful Kapiti Coast (population 41,967 Census 2001) lies some 50-80 km north of Wellington, the capital of New Zealand (Aotearoa). It stretches along State Highway 1 from the charming village of Paekakariki in the south, through suburban Raumati, Paraparaumu, and Waikanae, past rural farmland to Otaki in the north. The Kapiti Coast Baha'i Community is part of a cluster of five Baha'i communities: Wellington City, Porirua City, Lower Hutt City, Upper Hutt City and itself. These five communities while autonomous, work cooperatively on intercommunity projects and there is a free flow of people and activities across all Baha'i Communities in the cluster. North and West of the Kapiti Coast community are the Baha'i communities of Horowhenua District and the Manawatu District.
